KiD CuDi - Man On The Moon : The End Of The Day Review

Finally. The long awaited first solo album from Mr. K.I.D. himself KiD CuDi. The album will officially drop on September 15th, and I for sure will be picking up to support the Cleveland(Shaker) native. KiD CuDi is an interesting person. Some may say he's not even Rap, or Hip-Hop. His music is beyond this world. He somehow connects to his listeners through quirky beats, and lyrics that tells everyone his story. Throughout this "play", Common narrates the acts when the acts change. Good choice.
ACT 1 - The End Of Day: We first start off with the self-proclaimed Cudder Anthem. "In My Dreams" is the intro that goes off about how his dream has come true. The dream to have put out an album that his fans will appreciate and listen to. Next is "Soundtrack To My Life." CuDi performed the first verse to this song way back on BET with Kanye West. This song does not disappoint. "Scotty, I've got some issues that nobody can see and all of these emotions are pouring out of me, I bring them to the life you, it's only right. This is the soundtrack to my life, the soundtrack to my life." He talks about several issues. Family, smoking, rapping. The life that CuDi leads. After this joint, I'm thinking wow. This sets my expectations quite high for the rest of the album. Then comes "Simple As..." which starts off weird, but then the beat picks up and CuDi shows the rap game in it's simplest form. A simple beat + simple lyrics = a simple song. "Simple as that."
ACT 2 - Rise Of The Night Terrors: "Mr. Solo Dolo." One of the best performances on the album. This song speaks for itself. This part of the album is kind of CuDi's alter ego. The dark, nightmare, lonely ego. "Heart of A Lion." One of my favorites on the album. This is Cudi's theme song. Not quite sure why this is in Act 2, but this is the song shows everyone, CuDi can't be stopped. He's got the heart of a lion. "My World," is similar to Heart Of A Lion. There both about him and his come-up in the rap game, how you can't stop him, he's going to continue his grind, and rise to the top.
ACT 3 - Taking A Trip: Next is "Day N Nite." This single exploded everywhere. It became CuDi's quick route to fame, and his way to being recognized as a serious contender in the tough rap game. Now, don't get me wrong, Day N Nite will be, and always be a great song, but with an album like this, I think it's the worst song on here. That's how you know you have something special. "Sky Might Fall" also took the center stage for "street singles". This leaked as a supposedly Transformers 2 soundtrack song. With Kanye West on the production, and a catchy chorus, you can't go wrong with this one. Lyrically, CuDi destroyed this song. If you want to see CuDi rap at his best, this is the song. "Enter Galatic (Love Connection Part 1.)" is CuDi's love/girl song. Which girl would like to take a trip into the galaxy with the moon man? This showcases his creativity and how he's different from the rest.
ACT 4 - Stuck: "Alive" - "Everytime, the moon shines I become alive." How ironic that his album leaked on a full moon? Everything is fitting perfectly for KiD CuDi. "CuDi Zone" leaked as a snippet about a week or 2 ago. I didn't listen to it, because I didn't want to ruin the surprise for when the album drops. This song has a unique name. CuDi Zone literally means that CuDi is in his zone in this one. He goes off. You can't disturb a man when he's in the zone. In my opinion, this is pretty much a freestyle with a chorus. It just has that feeling, and I think that's what he wanted to get across. This beats out "Sky Might Fall" lyrically. "Make Her Say," the Lady Gaga sample, the one song with actual known features(Kanye West & Common). This was first a street single that Kanye, CuDi, and Common made in about a day after listening to Poker Face. The song started hitting the radios and it became a very popular song. Kanye on the production once again. All 3 rappers "Poke Her Face" in this joint. "Pursuit of Happiness" is the next single according to KiD CuDi's twitter. If I was this guy, I'd be on the pursuit of happiness 24/7. Whoever writes his choruses, whether it's him or someone else, is quite talented. Every chorus is catchy.
ACT 5 - A New Beginning - In "Hyyerr," Cleveland native Chip Tha Ripper is recruited to join the Shaker native in a song that's pretty much about smoking and rollin' that ish up. This song will help Chip Tha Ripper get some buzz outside of Ohio. One of the weaker songs I think, but nonetheless, still good. The album will then rap up with The Wake & Bake song, "Up Up & Away." Very entertaining song. Good way to end a great journey.
Final Thoughts: KiD CuDi evolved into a phenom. He does what he wants. The story of KiD CuDi can be very inspirational to anyone. It took just one mixtape, just one, for him to start his career. KiD CuDi would then be recognized by Kanye West and on September 15th, G.O.O.D. music presents you Man On The Moon: The End of The Day.
